(A cure for insomnia?)

More years ago now than I care to remember, I was asked if I wanted a Series 1 (80").

Now in truth, I can't remember if coin of the realm was exchanged or not. Anyway suffice to say it was a bitsa. (What's a bitsa you ask? Well, in this case, it;'s a rolling chassis with bitsa here and bitsa over there. All in nice neatly labeled boxes... Oh no wait that was my fantasy. There were boxes but they weren't neat and definitely not labeled.)

A friend of mine, who owned a nursery, was kind enough to let me use one of his sheds for the rebuild. Now as sheds go it left a little to be desired. For instance, the roof liked playing tricks, (it never leaked in the same place twice) but at least it kept the wind off of me, unless of course it was blowing from the direction of the non-existent doors.

In 1979 I was approached by the then owner of Dingocroft, then in Maidenhead, to start a Land Rover parts supply business.I jumped in at the opportunity. Two years later, being young and foolhardy, I moved to Canada. The business was sold a while after that to one its first customers ( “who liked the company so much he bought it”). Since then Dingocroft has been in the capable hands of Tim and his team.
